THE FIREBIRD - TASMANIAN SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

William Walton was one of the 20th century's finest melodists. His serene, luminous Cello Concerto is full of vivid harmonies and rich orchestral colour; its singing out movements frame a scherzo of quicksilver brilliance. The beauty continues with spellbinding soundscapes from two Russian masters: Glinka's exuberant overture to his fairy-tale opera Russlan and Ludmilla, and Stravinsky's haunting Firebird Suite.
